Utility Assistance Program from Entergy

The application process for Entergy Bill Assistance is closed for the Capital Area United Way and its 10-parish service area. 

CAUW received a large number of applications from Entergy customers over a short period of time. Entergy Bill Assistance provided to our region has reached its funding capacity and is now closed.

Note to applicants: Our goal is to have your application reviewed within the next 10 business days. You will receive a notification confirming whether your application for assistance has been approved or not approved. No further action is needed by you. Thank you! Submission DOES NOT guarantee an award. Applicants will receive approval or denial of application by email at the email address provided in their application.

Entergy New Orleans and Entergy Louisiana have committed nearly $4.4 million to Louisiana United Way chapters for bill payment assistance on a first-come, first-served basis to qualifying residential customers. Entergy has partnered with local United Ways in Louisiana to offer a one-time $150 utility assistance to qualifying customers.

The eligibility criteria and application process for the Capital Area will be launched on August 17th. Further instructions and information for our region will be released as soon as they are available. For additional information visit the Entergy website

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify, customers must be an Entergy Louisiana electric customer and have a total household income not exceeding 250% of the federal poverty level, which equates to $69,000 for a family of four.  Qualifications are set forth by Entergy Louisiana.

Application Information

Customers applying for the $150 assistance plan through the United Way should have ready the necessary documents in order to proceed: 

  • Photo ID (driver’s license or state-issued ID, passport)
  • One of the following income options for each income earner age 18 or older:
    • First page of 2021 tax return(s)
    • 2021 W2(s)
    • Last paystub(s)
    • Social Security Administration 1099 or 1042S form(s)
    • Note: Clients can upload proof of SSI/military retirement benefits for income

Additional Information for application: 

  • Entergy account number
  • Account holder's DOB
  • Valid email address
  • Working phone number
  • Utility service address
  • Number of people in household
  • Total annual income of all earners in household
  • Income earners over the age of 18 in the household

Residency: Must reside in one of the 10-Parish service area which includes Ascension, Iberville, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. James, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana Parishes.

How it works

  • Fill out the application form online and upload supporting documents.  Correct and full applications will be processed in the order that they are received.  
  • You will be contacted by a United Way representative if your application is complete and meets all qualifications. 
  • This review process can take up to 15 days or more. 
  • Approved application will receive $150 credit on their Entergy Louisiana bill.

Low-income older adults and customers with disabilities assistance information: 

In addition to the Entergy Assistance provided through local United Ways, a $425,000 supplemental donation will be made to Entergy’s The Power to Care program to help low-income older adults and customers with disabilities in Louisiana with their bills. The supplemental donation to The Power to Care is in addition to $1.4 million that has already been donated to The Power to Care for low-income older adults and customers with disabilities in Louisiana.
